Research at the Division

The Division of Particle and Nuclear Physics spans broad across subatomic physics and acts largely within international research environments. We conduct experimental and theoretical research with collider experiments. We are engaged in dark-matter searches, fundamental physics with neutrons, nuclear structure and nuclear reactions at the limits of nuclear stability, as well as studying man-made radioactivity in the environment. Theory activities include standard model and beyond, phenomenology, and more. Have a look at the research units' pages for more details!

Mats Lindroos, in memoriam

It was with great regret that we learnt of the sudden death of Mats Lindroos (1961-2024). Until his last days, he continued to work with passion, courage, and endurance. His legacy will endure through the impact he has made in science and technology.

He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him as a colleague, gifted and creative scientist, as well as a friend.

We deeply mourn the loss of Mats Lindroos and will remember him fondly.
